By summer 2011 the national Swedish Lottery, Svenska Spel AB, had outgrown their legacy method of handling media assets. The Lottery produces a daily TV show for the Keno game drawings in-house – 365 days a year. |

Magnus Helander, responsible for the live studio operations at Svenska Spel AB began looking for a solution to make operations smoother. One of the systems he was interested in was Cinegy.
Other benefits are that everything is connected to a real workflow that uses Cinegy Archive MAM, Cinegy Convert, Cinegy Desktop, Cinegy Workspace and also Cinegy Streaming Suite.

He goes on to say, “ A past problem was that the production was not very streamlined. In a file-based workflow with many applications and servers involved this is stressful for the production crew. We can now remove some time consuming tasks with Cinegy. This will put less stress on the production team and increase stability of the studio infrastructure. Instead of coding and transcoding, files are now handled by the Cinegy Archive MAM and all material comes from a central storage. This way we only need to send a small ”frame server” file which is called Cinegy Cinebridge to the playout.”
Cinegy provided Svenska Spel AB not only with Workflow products but also the high quality IP Gateway encoder/decoder modules which are part of the Cinegy Streaming Suite. At tests, encoding 720P@50 MPEG2 transport streams gave a much higher quality then their previous solution at half the bandwidth.

Svenska Spel´s system consist of a central storage of 16 TB connected to the MAM, Cinegy Archive. This system manages all content and give the client great metadata support. For automated transcoding Cinegy Convert, a network based transcoding software, is used to send content in or out of the MAM system. As an example, Cinegy Convert is used to import files from the Sony Vegas editing bays and Newtek Tricaster 850 into the MAM. Cinegy Convert is also responsible to push material to the Svenska Spel websiteonline video platform provided by Kaltura.
Cinegy Desktop will be used for final editing of the Keno show, as well as managing the MAM content. All users have access to Cinegy Workspace, a browser based editing tool that uses MS Silverlight technology. Cinegy Cinebridge is used to let other applications easily use content on the MAM. For distribution, Svenska Spel are now testing Cinegy IP Gateway.
